Speaking of which, our AITO M8 at home has been driven for almost two months now. Choosing this car was definitely not a spur-of-the-moment decision back then—my family accompanied me to numerous showrooms and watched countless reviews before finally settling on it.

The old family car had been in use for quite a few years, and its space was becoming increasingly inadequate, especially when the whole family went out together—not only were the seats tight, but the trunk couldn't hold much either. Plus, as my parents grew older, they started demanding more comfort, wanting a car that wouldn't jostle them around too much and would allow them to relax comfortably for a while.

My daily commute isn't particularly long, but on weekends or holidays, I enjoy taking my wife and kids out to the suburbs or even occasionally driving to nearby cities. So, I needed to balance the cost-effectiveness of daily use with the convenience of long-distance travel. Gasoline cars are convenient for refueling, but electric vehicles are cheaper to run. At that time, I was torn between extended-range and pure electric options for quite a while.

One weekend, I took my kids to the science museum. We were stuck in traffic for about an hour, running entirely on pure electric mode with the AC on—absolutely no noise. The kids in the back seat were completely engrossed in their cartoons, and I felt really at ease.

Occasionally taking a long trip, like the last time I took my parents to visit my aunt in a neighboring city, covering over 400 kilometers round trip with mostly highway driving, the advantage of the range extender becomes apparent. Filling up the tank maximizes the driving range, eliminating any worries about breaking down halfway. It gives a sense of security while driving, far less stressful than the occasional need to plan charging stops with a pure electric car.

This car feels very stable to drive, with a steering wheel that's comfortable to hold and has just the right amount of resistance. Whether it's low-speed maneuvering or high-speed lane changes, the direction can be precisely controlled.
The chassis is tuned to be very solid, with minimal body roll when going over speed bumps or uneven roads, and none of that unnecessary vibration.
I specifically opted for the 21-inch wheels. While they might sacrifice a bit of comfort compared to smaller wheels, the visual effect is indeed more harmonious, and they make the car feel more planted at high speeds.

I've experienced the car's assisted driving a few times, and it's indeed quite convenient. On long highway drives, with assisted driving enabled, the car can automatically maintain lane centering and even adapt to the speed of the vehicle ahead for automatic stopping and starting, significantly reducing driving fatigue. Especially in heavy traffic, not having to frequently press the brakes or accelerator makes driving much more relaxed, allowing more focus on the road conditions. Of course, I still prefer to keep my hands on the steering wheel and my eyes on the road, as these are just assistive features—safety always comes first.

The beige interior color looks very cozy and also makes the space appear more spacious. The seats are very spacious, with moderately firm padding that gives a sense of being enveloped when sitting on them.Mine is the six-seater version, with two independent seats in the second row, equipped with armrests, and a wide range of electric adjustment for both front and back positions, as well as adjustable backrest angles.

Although the third row is not as spacious as the first two rows, it is perfectly fine for an adult to sit in for short trips. I am 1.78 meters tall, and when I sit in, there is still some distance between my knees and the back of the front seat. There is also enough headroom, and it even has independent air vents, which shows thoughtful consideration.

The pure electric version of the AITO M8 has recently started pre-sales, and I heard the pre-sale performance is quite impressive. It is set to officially launch in August. A colleague who previously gave up on the M8 due to the lack of a pure electric option is now eager to try it. Based on the upgrades announced so far, the pure electric version is no slouch either, and its sales might even surpass the extended-range version. However, for me, the extended-range version remains the best choice for now. After all, with it, I don’t have to worry about long or short trips, and life has become much more convenient.
